04 / The Machine

STANDARD HARDWARE. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Every URKL team fields the identical EngineAI T800. Structural changes and weapons are prohibited - the platform is the level playing field, and the leaderboard measures nothing but software.

Chassis

A 1.73-meter humanoid frame in aviation-grade aluminum, 75 to 85 kilograms, with 29 degrees of freedom driven by high-torque actuators peaking at 450 Nm - built for explosive movement.

Power & Cooling

A solid-state lithium battery delivers four to five hours of continuous operation. Active joint cooling keeps actuators in their performance window through sustained exchanges.

05 / The Software

IDENTICAL ROBOTS. THE SOFTWARE FIGHTS.

Hardware modifications are forbidden in URKL, so every win is a software win. Four disciplines decide whether a machine stands or falls - all four are built in-house.

Motion Control

Whole-body trajectories computed in real time: strikes, evasions, and recoveries composed from a library of learned movements and executed across 29 degrees of freedom at once.

ABSORB → REDISTRIBUTE → COUNTER-STEP
02

Balance Under Impact

The hardest problem in the sport: staying upright while being hit. Our controllers absorb contact, redistribute load, and counter-step before a fall becomes a knockdown.

03

Perception

Fusing LiDAR sweeps and stereo vision into a single, millisecond-fresh model of the opponent - position, stance, and the attack that hasn't landed yet.

OBSERVE → DECIDE → COMMIT
04

Autonomous Tactics

No remote control. The machine selects openings, manages energy, and commits to exchanges on its own - strategy encoded before the fight, decisions made inside it.

06 / Mission

SET THEAZIMUTH.HOLD THEBALANCE.

An azimuth is a direction held under pressure. We build software that keeps a machine oriented, upright, and deliberate while the world tries to knock it over. The ring is the proving ground; the technology is the point.

07 / The Numbers

THE GRID WE ARE JOINING.

More than 200 teams registered for URKL worldwide - Stanford, UC Berkeley, Tsinghua, Zhejiang, and the University of Hong Kong among them - and 32 made it through qualification onto the grid.

11 / Questions

WHAT EVERYONE ASKS ABOUT THE PROJECT.

01What exactly is URKL?

The Ultimate Robot Knock-out Legend - the world's first commercialized free-combat league for full-size autonomous humanoid robots, organized by Shenzhen-based EngineAI. It debuted on 16 July 2026 at the Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center. 32 teams compete for a 10-million-yuan prize pool and a solid-gold championship belt.

02Why does every team use the same robot?

The league supplies every team with an identical EngineAI T800 and prohibits hardware modifications and weapons of any kind. With the hardware fixed, teams win or lose purely on software: motion control, balance under impact, perception, and autonomous tactics. It is a benchmark, not an arms race.

03Is Azimuth PRO really autonomous?

Yes. There is no remote control and no human in the loop during a fight. The machine perceives its opponent through on-board LiDAR and stereo cameras and makes every decision itself, in real time. Our work happens before the bell - in the software.

04When will we see Azimuth PRO fight?

The robot's first public presentation is planned for Q1 2027 in Europe. Our competitive debut follows at the start of URKL Season 2, in mid-2027. Season 1 runs without us - we are using it as the best dataset in the sport.

05Isn't robot fighting just staged violence?

It is closer to a crash test than a brawl. The machines are standardized, unarmed, and nobody gets hurt. Full-contact competition is the harshest benchmark available for balance, impact recovery, and real-time decision-making - the same capabilities that disaster-response and heavy-logistics robots need. Like the DARPA challenges before it, the league exists to accelerate the engineering.

06Who pays for all this?

Partners and an open crowdfund pay for the league run - we are not selling equity here. Three partner tiers - Titanium, Carbon, and Steel - plus a crowdfund that covers computing power and LLM tokens only. Every invoice for compute bought with backer money is public, accounted down to the last cent. Partner slots and the supporters wall are in the sponsorship section.

07Is a fighting robot the whole business?

No - the league is the proving ground. Long term, Azimuth PRO will train and adapt Chinese humanoid robots for the European market and for specific industries and tasks: the software, the safety envelope, and the behaviors a given job actually demands. Full-contact competition is simply the harshest place to prove our controls and perception hold up before a machine walks onto a factory floor.

08Are you hiring?

Yes - but a seat on this crew is won, not filled. Instead of a CV you send a pitch: the edge you would give the machine in one of four disciplines - simulation, controls, perception, or operations. Every application gets an answer, at most 20 candidates go to interviews, and the winners fly with the crew to Shenzhen for Season 2. The full challenge is on the team page.
